About the Team An excellent opportunity for an experienced events executive has arisen in an international firm. Joining the communications function and a well-established events team - and working closely with an outstanding group of communications, marketing and business development professionals - you will be involved in a full range of client and some internal events. You will contribute closely to the planning and management of how the firm utilises event opportunities. You will organise and manage a full range of events including seminars, workshops, dinners and drinks receptions. This will require close liaison with the wider communications team, internal clients, business development colleagues and firmwide business services teams. Main Purpose of the Job To assist with the delivery of the Gowling WLG events programme in line with the strategic objectives of the Business Development team and firmwide wide business plans. Main Duties and Responsibilities Key requirements for this role include a good events background allied to an understanding of marketing, communications and business development within a professional services organisation. You will also need outstanding organisational skills. Events are an important part of this firm's client-facing activity and the applicant will need to: Deliver first-class events in line with business values, current campaigns in place and/or targeted audiences and markets Ensure appropriate research into each event to include the target audience, why they should attend and the anticipated benefits associated with attending Ensure integration into wider communications activity with other members of the communications team Manage the full events process from scoping, researching and planning, execution and follow up, including: discussions at the outset to ensure that the event is part of the particular team's business plans, integrates well with other activity, is within budget and is going to be the right format and/or content for the audience assistance with preparation of invitations and mailing lists to ensure we are targeting the right audience managing administrative tasks relating to events, including pack preparation, formatting of PowerPoint presentations, badges, table plans (for dinners), all on-the-day paperwork, catering, staff and equipment attending rehearsals to ensure the content is tailored and delivered at the level expected by our audience and ensure brand reinforcement on the quality of our events liaising with communications and business development colleagues to ensure that content is re-used as widely as possible via other communications channels, e.g. PR, thought leadership, website, social media, podcasts etc reviewing feedback post event, including delegate satisfaction ratings, delegate numbers, financial performance against budget, proposed actions and return on investment conducting debrief to evaluate event and discuss overall ROI/objectives achieved Maintain an understanding of developments within the events field and suggest innovations and improvements to our events offering Manage events across all UK offices so travel and overnight stays may be required Support any other reasonable duties delegated by your line manager or the Head of Communications Key skills and experience This is an excellent role for an individual who thrives in a busy and challenging environment. The applicant should: Be an excellent communicator and able to liaise closely with people at all levels, both internally and externally Have strong organisational skills and the ability to juggle and prioritise numerous tasks Be a confident communicator Have a very good eye for detail Have the ability to work within tight and demanding deadlines Be able to retain grace under extreme pressure Have excellent knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
