Who are you?

Test Engineers are the champions of quality, the product experts and you are the person to come to when anyone wants to know "how does the product works". You will work alongside Scrum Masters, Business Analysts, Developers, Product Owners and 3rd Parties to ensure product quality on the functional and integration aspects of the products.

You will deliver rich internet applications (RIA), primarily using open source technologies and products in a LAMP environment, so ideally you'll have prior experience in automated testing of commercial web sites upon a PHP and MySQL platform

You will be responsible for creating and executing testing activities to ensure new or amended services meet requirements. You will perform a wide range of behavioural driven development (BDD) activities, being responsible for rigorously planning, writing, executing and automating test scripts. Provide reports on testing results, coverage and make recommendations where necessary.

You will actively participate in the delivery of Web Applications, Mobile and Portals to support the business objectives. To interpret and negotiate business requirements to deliver high quality, customer focused testing solutions.

You will ensure that software solutions are fit for purpose, fully regression testable and therefore cost effective, delivered on schedule and to functional specification.You will work with external software vendors as part of a team to ensure their products are well-defined, are testable within our defined testing framework and are fit for purpose.

What will you be doing?

If you join us, you'll:

  • Be a key part of one of our tribes Core
  • Testing developed software against specified requirements
  • Recording and Monitoring of issues
  • Producing test cases utilising the appropriate test management and automation tools
  • Identifying issues, risks and dependencies escalating and managing where appropriate
  • Creating and maintaining test documentation
  • Monitoring test progress in line with release dates / plans
  • Produce Test Cases utilising the appropriate test management and automation tools
  • Taking ownership on quality control procedures and automation processes
  • Ensure an automated regression test pack is compiled for the future testing of the project code
  • What we need....

    Technical Skills

  • An understanding of SDLC methods and processes, including Agile methodologies (XP, Scrum, kanban)
  • Commercial exposure to web technologies, techniques and practices in a mission critical environment
  • An understanding of security considerations when testing Web applications, Mobile applications and back end systems.
  • An understanding of performance, stability and / or stress testing.
  • Experience coding in C, Java, PHP or Python.
  • Experience or understanding testing public SDKs or APIs
  • Keeping up to date with technical/professional developments
  • Commercial experience of automation packages, e.g. Behat , Cucumber
  • Experience in Selenium / BrowserMob.
  • Knowledge of testing API's (Xml, Json).
  • Knowledge of testing client-side JavaScript
  • Specialist knowledge

  • Proven experience in a true agile delivery environment (Scrum, XP, TDD, BDD).
  • Excellent communications skills and stakeholder management as your audience will be both non-technical and technical professionals.
  • Knowledge and experience of web and other interactive technologies, techniques and practices together with knowledge of systems integration tools and techniques
  • Knowledge of software development life cycle and testing in particular.
  • A keen enthusiasm and understanding of agile methodologies and practices.
  • Has a technical appreciation as a result of working on a day to day basis with IT and technical systems.
  • An understanding of Agile and Waterfall methodologies and principles.
  • Capable in risk management methodologies, including the identification, assessment and management of project risks.
