Main Role - To plan and implement high quality programmes which meets the needs of learners who struggle to engage in a classroom situation - To enable learners to make positive progression in their knowledge, social skills and understanding - You will be working with learners 1:1 and in small groups. Duties Support To build up a strong rapport with learners who present challenging behaviour, gaining their trust and providing them with a positive role model and someone they can confide in. To reintegrate learners who present challenging behaviour back into the classroom. To establish and maintain positive links between home and education, liaising effectively with parents / carers on a regular basis. To participate in feedback sessions / meetings as appropriate with Endeavour staff, learners, parents / carers and other professionals. To provide and ensure a high level of supervision for identified learners. To plan, implement and review a reintegration programme for learners who present challenging behaviour and who struggle in a classroom situation. Where appropriate, produce and deliver high quality schemes of work and lesson plans and evaluate and adjust lessons as appropriate to meet the needs of individual learners and the group. To develop and deliver innovative and inspiring sessions outside the classroom which provide challenge to enable learners to progress personally, socially and academically. To identify learning needs and areas for development of learners and develop a programme which focuses on these areas and provides an appropriate environment for the learner to develop. To monitor and evaluate learner progression through observation and recording of achievement against pre-determined learning objectives. To promote the inclusion and acceptance of all learners within or outside the classroom. To support learners consistently whilst recognising and responding to their individual needs. To encourage learners to interact and work co-operatively with others and engage all learners in activities To promote learner's independence and thinking skills and employ strategies to recognise and reward achievement and self-reliance. To support the improvement of learner's literacy and numeracy and make effective use of opportunities provided by other learning activities to support the development of literacy and numeracy. To determine the need for, prepare and maintain general and specialist equipment and resources. To provide feedback to learners in relation to progress and achievement. To be responsible for keeping and updating learner records. To promote positive values, attitudes and good learner behaviour, dealing promptly with conflicts and incidents in line with established policy and encourage learners to take responsibility for their own behaviour. To be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection. To supervise learners with particular focus on identified learners on visits, trips and out of education activities. To provide a high level of supervision at unstructured times such as break time / lunch time . To prepare work and activities in advance of the lesson. Help maintain a good standard of appearance across the centre. To attend and participate in regular meetings as appropriate. To participate in training and other learning activities offered by the project to further knowledge. Support other staff in delivery where necessary. PERSONAL SPECIFICATION Essential Qualifications / Skills Level 2 literacy Level 2 numeracy Experience Experience of delivering a variety of sessions to young people in a one to one or small group setting. Experience of working within an educational setting with learners with barriers to engagement. Experience of developing and delivering innovative and inspiring lessons. Experience of delivering learning in a variety of subject areas. Experience of working with learners who present challenging behaviour. Knowledge Knowledge of a mix of subject areas. Utilising experiential & outdoor education with challenging learners to achieve positive outcomes Terms and Conditions: Salary Scale Points: GBP16,369 Other Pay: N/A Hours: Full time term time only hours are 35 Hours per week Monday to Friday 8.30am - 4.00pm although we will consider flexible hours. Holidays: Temporary Support Mentor will be employed Pro Rata on a 39 week contract and paid for 43.8 weeks so as to include holiday pay. Pension: The auto-enrolment of the employee will be postponed for three months. After this date, subject to eligibility, the employee will be auto enrolled into our work place pension in line with legislation.
