Sopra Banking Software is recruiting a Compliance Specialist to join our Financial IT systems Product Management team in Sheffield.

This is a full time, permanent position providing specialist, high level support across all areas of compliance by managing the obtaining, understanding, reviewing and appropriate distribution of information related to regulations. This will be both internally and also externally with the customers.

As a specialist in the UK financial, banking, and mortgage compliance and regulations you will also be responsible for coordinating the interaction with the customer base to gain their involvement though close and extensive discussions while leading the interaction of Sopra Banking with the different financial regulators and industrial bodies with the goal of increasing the influence Sopra Banking has in these forums.

Key duties in the role are to:

Develop and promote the Group's Compliance capability offer
Maintain a strong and comprehensive understanding of the regulatory environment
Lead the key relations with the regulatory bodies to maintain and strength Sopra influence
Maintain active engagement with the key industry bodies
Active engagement with the customers' about the regulatory environment
Provides a point of reference for the development teams when addressing regulatory aspects
Analyse sector-based and business stakes, areas of progress and needs, study compliance, analyse gaps, define solutions, guide choices, influence implementation plans
Listen, understand and make customer needs explicit
Embody the Group values
Contributes to people development and business unit internal communication

Within the compliance role you will be expected to manage missions and/or important projects implying customer relationships at a high level, while having control in a functional or technical area and also people management skills, strengthens, and a management dimension.

The successful candidates requires:

Wide UK financial, banking, and mortgage industry experience and had significant exposure to compliance impacts
Strong customer interaction skills
A proven track record of handling complex situations
The ability to simplify complex requirements into basic understanding

Key technical and functional skills required:

Strong organisational skills in arranging customer forums and workshop events
Good understanding of regulatory requirements
Strong understanding of the political landscape affecting the UK banking, finance, and mortgage regulators
