Responsible for the overall supervision of the catering department including: planning, organising and developing the food and beverage service to the business, ensuring compliance with food safety regulation, health and safety requirements, and customer expectations. This is a hands on role - you will also be cooking Client Details A large manufacture with a large site in the Nottingham area Description Responsible for the overall supervision of the catering department including: planning, organising and developing the food and beverage service to the business, ensuring compliance with food safety regulation, health and safety requirements, and customer expectations. People Management Supervision of Catering Assistants to ensure food and beverages are produced to set standards and time frames To conduct appraisal meetings and provide written feedback Recruit and train Catering Assistants To organise, lead and motivate the catering team Health & Safety To ensure health and safety and food hygiene regulations are adhered to at all times including training and certification Ensuring compliance with fire, licensing and employment regulations Reporting accidents in the kitchen or complaints about staff welfare To ensure the cleanliness of the kitchen, its equipment and surrounding areas Food and Beverages To manage food and beverage provision on a daily basis to include functions and events Plan menus in consultation with Catering Assistants and Managers To manage and monitor catering expenditure To monitor the quality of the product and services provided, identifying opportunities for improvement To maintain stock levels and order new supplies as required Interacting with customers and supporting front of house work Liaising with suppliers and clients Other duties To be hands on in the day to day running of the operation Planning and developing the catering department including equipment and services provided To keep abreast of trends and development in the catering industry e.g. menus and trends Any other duties as requested Profile Personality: Desire to succeed with a can do attitude Excellent interpersonal skills Customer focused Flexible approach to work and people management Proven ability to multi-task, plan and prioritise workload with a practical, flexible and innovative approach Polite and professional Have meticulous attention to detail Keen and eager to lend themselves to any task Ability to perform under pressure and to work using own initiative as well as part of a team Skills: Food hygiene / Health & Safety qualification or certification 3 years previous experience working within the catering industry Customer facing experience Excellent written & verbal communication Numeracy and strong computer literacy (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel) Team work skills and the ability to lead and motivate others Experience of improving service delivery Experience of producing hot and cold food to a high standard You must have a cooking qualification and experience of developing menus. This is a hands on role and you will be cooking as part of this position. Full clean driving licence Job Offer salary £21,000 - £28,000 Monday to Fridays only - (This company also closes at Christmas) Pension is 3% matched, rising to 8% matched on service 40% staff discount Profit related pay, based on business performance - 50% 1st year, 100% thereafter paid 10% of salary last year.
