This new Derby based business is looking for a Financial Controller reporting to the Managing Director regarding all financial and accounting activities This is a permanent full time position working for a growing business which is new to this area and in a period of growth. The right person will need to be very hands on and not afraid to get involved in all areas of Finance. Ideally this person will have experience working in start-up self-directed business environment with a proactive mindset and ability to work independently. The Financial Controller role will include the following duties but limited to: Job Duties of the Financial Controller: Oversee all company accounts and investments Create monthly and annual reports to identify results, trends, and forecasts for major projects Manage cash flow by tracking transactions and regularly reviewing internal reports Supervise and manage financial department staff, including accountants and financial assistants Motivate and lead finance team members by clarifying roles and providing helpful feedback Suggest updates and improvements for accounting systems, including payroll and invoicing Ensure that all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed, and reported Establish and implement financial reporting systems to comply with government regulations and legislation Corporation Tax, PAYE and VAT returns Collaborate with auditing services to ensure proper compliance with all regulations Develop budgets and financial plans for the company based on research and data reports Review all financial plans and budgets regularly to look for cost reduction opportunities Examine all financial reports and data closely to check for discrepancies Create systems to prevent errors in data collection and calculations Report to Senior Management with timely and accurate financial information Who should apply? This role ideally needs someone with strong understanding of project accounting, working knowledge of Sage 300 financial and ERP system. ACCA or CIMA experience is preferably along with prior experience in construction, industrial or engineering service fields. You’ll be able to tackle lots of duties at any one time and will be willing to muck in and support your colleagues when necessary. This will be working as part of a small team initially but the team and business will grow so you’ll need to adapt and change accordingly.
